Our Story
A dedicated paeony grower, from the ground up
Alpine Paeonies NZ is a paeony grower based in Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island. We planted our first rows in 2011 with a small selection of varieties and a simple goal: to grow exceptional cut paeonies for the wholesale trade.
That goal hasn't changed — only the scale. Today our block carries more than 12,000 plants across 11 named varieties, each chosen for reliable performance, strong stems and colour that holds true from field to vase.

Canterbury: built for paeonies
Our farm sits on the Canterbury Plains outside Christchurch, where cold winters roll down off the Southern Alps and give paeony crowns the deep winter chill they need to flower well each spring.
That alpine influence — sharp frosts, free-draining plains soil and a long, even growing season — is where our name comes from, and it's what gives our stems their strength and colour depth.

Our Farm Story
Built by hand, refined over time
Alpine Paeonies has operated since 2011, expanding steadily to more than 12,000 plants across 11 varieties. We take pride in exceptional quality and consistency, harvest after harvest.
What began as entirely hand-processed work has grown alongside the farm itself. We've since built our own spraying truck, leaf stripper, stem cutter and sizing grader — purpose-built equipment that lets us hold every stem to the same high standard, at wholesale volume.
Our progression from hand-processing to purpose-built equipment reflects one thing: a commitment to consistency our wholesale customers can rely on.
